Trooper is a remarkable animal that the reflects the superior genetics behind his pedigree. The breeding was based on the German “mother-line” philosophy which states: The Sire of the Sire, is also the Grand-Sire of the Dam. That dog is CH Shooting Starr’s Top Gun MH NA-I/112,UT-I/193, “Gunner”. Gunner had the great balance that we strive for at STERNJAGER. He had all the desirable hunting characteristics as evidenced by his Master Hunter and Utility Prize I achievements. He also had especially correct conformation as evidenced by his AKC conformation Champion title. But Gunner was more than that as he had exceptional prepotency—the ability to stamp his offspring with all of his talents and characteristics, which is the hallmark of greatness in a stud dog. One of the many solid dogs Gunner produced was Troopers sire, VC Shooting Starr’s Son of a Gun MH,NA-II/100,UT-I/204, NSTRA CH, “Sonny” is especially noteworthy. Sonny not only exceeded Gunner in terms of achievements and titles earned, but maybe more importantly Sonny is exceeding Gunner in terms of prepotency. Sonny has sired nearly 150 NAVHDA Natural Ability pups and more than 30 Utility Prized dogs—unofficially more that any other stud. He is the #2 all time producer of AKC Master Hunters, and #7 all time producer of all hunt test titled offspring. Trooper’s dam is Shooting Starr’s Rowdy Remi NA-I/112, UT-I/199, “Rowdy”. Rowdy was a very early developing huntress, being the SIXTH CONSECTUTIVE generation to achieve the maximum score in her Natural Ability test –112 Points. In the field and marsh her performance is marked with great desire and there is no doubt in her mind that she is a predator. Rowdy’s dam, Shooting Starrs Rickster was a full litter mate to Sonny.
